About
Built for the returns nobody else wants to explain.
International students get the hardest version of the US tax system and the least help with it. That gap is the whole reason this exists.
The problem
The wrong return is easy to file.
The software assumes you are a resident
The well-known filing tools are built for US residents. Most of them cannot produce Form 1040-NR at all, and they will happily walk an F-1 student through a resident return that should never have been filed.
You cannot search for a word you do not know
Nobody arrives knowing they are a "non-resident alien for tax purposes". You find out only after something tells you — which is why the very first thing we do is settle your status, before anything else.
The stakes are not obvious
Filing the wrong form can mean paying tax you never owed, missing a treaty benefit your country negotiated for you, or creating a problem that surfaces years later at an immigration desk.
How we work
Three rules we hold ourselves to.
Status first, always
Every path into this product runs through the residency questions. There is no way to skip them, because skipping them is how the expensive mistake happens.
We say what we cannot do
When your situation is outside what we handle, you get told plainly and put in front of a tax professional. You never get a silent guess dressed up as an answer.
You can ask us questions back
A form can only ask. If you do not understand why we need something, ask — in English or Spanish — and you get an actual explanation instead of a tooltip.
Find out where you stand.
A few questions, no account needed.
